I've attached our Varsity Practice Plan Template for our varsity practices. As a coaching staff, we sit down and decide what our two or three offensive points of emphasis will be and what our two or three defensive points of emphasis will be for the season. Each team is different, and each team needs to be good at something each season. Our goal is to accentuate the strengths of our personnel while improving (or hiding) our weaknesses. We then attach a season long Offensive Emphasis of the Day and a season long Defensive Emphasis of the Day to the practice plan. It never changes. And, every day we ask our kids "What is our season-long Offensive Emphasis of the Day" and "What is our season-long Defensive Emphasis of the Day?" Our template reminds us to work on a specific skill in practice (boxing out, protecting the paint, feeding the post) and we plug in a different drill each day that works on that skill. We then plug in drills from our Offensive and Defensive Drills document onto the practice plan.
