Character Building
Goal #1: Change the Lives of Our Young Men Forever!!
We have been granted a sacred trust. Let's be good stewards of this trust. And, let's do it on purpose. Let's be "intentional" in our efforts to build character in our young men. Every school day I post a "Thought of the Day" on Twitter and Facebook. Have your players follow me. Then, at the beginning of practice we have our players meet at half-court. We call on one of the players to tell us the "Thought of the Day." If he is unable to do so, the entire team has to do five push-ups. It is actually a fun time where the coaches actually try to find someone who doesn't know the "Thought of the Day" and everyone gets a good laugh either way. It also gives us a chance to connect with our young men in a meaningful way before practice begins. I would love to have all of our teams do this! I've attached our Social Fundamentals Notebook for your use.
Secondly, have your kids follow "Coach Littleton's Character blog." Social media is among us, and we must learn how to use it to our advantage. So, I regularly post video blogs dealing with character issues. I have also began a "Flower Mound Basketball players are....." campaign. Make sure your kids watch this also.

In conclusion, it's important for each of us to remember two things. First, our players may not always listen to us, but they will always watch us. Second, failing to teach what is right teaches what is wrong. Let's get these two rules of thumb correct!
