WELCOME TO
Coach Eric Littleton
Welcome to the upcoming basketball season and our basketball family!! You are a vital part of a very exciting time in our basketball family, and your hard work, encouragement, and genuine interest in each young man in this family is priceless. Together, we have been entrusted with the amazing opportunity to impact countless lives forever. This is a sacred trust that we hold dear, and we are committed to being good stewards of that trust in every way possible....both on the court and off the court! There are several very specific ways where we can be worthy of that sacred trust.
First, our hard work proves to be a great testimony of our love and commitment to these young men. By becoming servants, we lead. By becoming last, we teach how to become first. Every chance we have to "go the extra mile" for our young men and their families is a chance to change lives forever. By continually being on the lookout for ways to serve others, we teach our young men how to serve.
Our encouraging spirits and positive attitudes are also contagious. We must constantly look for ways to encourage and build self-esteem in our young men. We must find good to say in failure and then gently teach what is right when failure does occur. Our young men will become what we say they are. They believe and trust us. Therefore, we have the responsibility to reaffirm the positive attributes these young men posses. In return, this spirit of positive energy will pervade our students' physical families, school relationships, and our basketball family.
Finally, our young men must not only hear of our interest, they must see it. Not only must we ask about their grades, we must actively take an interest through grade checks and teacher contact. Not only must we ask about their involvement in family, church, and other school and community activities, we must attend and be genuinely interested. Our interest must transcend each young man's basketball skill and enter into a personal, inquisitive spirit. We have the opportunity to discuss personal growth socially, spiritually, and academically, and then provide love and concern often. By becoming a part of these young men's lives, rather than observers, we have the opportunity to positively impact their lives forever.
We are guaranteed that our young men will sometimes not listen to us, but they will always watch us. Failure to teach what is right--whether it be by personal example or direct instruction-- teaches what is wrong. Our actions do, indeed, speak louder than words, and the legacy that we leave now will someday impact wives, children, grandchildren, and other family institutions for generations to come. What a great opportunity and blessing! That future is now. The Flower Mound Basketball family wants to change lives on and off the court. Thank you for being an important part of our family. Please know that I am here to serve you---my home and my life and my friendship are yours.
Yours in Hoops,
Coach Littleton
